The Show House Floor Plan

The Designers

Susan and Leigh Ann of White Rabbit Cottage designed the Art and Design Show House mud room and laundry room, powder room, and butler’s pantry.
Susan and Leigh Ann are looking forward to working with other members of the community to support the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.
“My love for beautiful furnishings and accessories is the basis of my desire to decorate, and it’s an honor to participate in the first Art and Design Show House,” Susan says.
Susan’s design aesthetic can be described as traditional, inviting and comfortable – punctuated with personal items. She believes a home should be visually appealing without sacrificing comfort and function. Her liberal use of accessories brings life to a room and can be easily changed to update or refresh its design.

Clark of Casual Image designed the front and back porches and patio area of the Art and Design Show House. The patio will feature furnishings with scrolled metals, inviting weaves and wood to complement the traditional Southern home. The fabrics are warm with golds, greens and henna red.
Casual Image is a retail store specializing in outdoor furniture, fireplaces and grills. The company has been furnishing Marietta’s outdoor spaces for 24 years. Clark feels it is important to support local causes, such as the show house, and looks forward to showcasing Casual Images’ furnishings in this setting.
“I encourage all of the guests who visit this home to touch, sit and enjoy these designs,” Clark says.

Cindy and Sue of Lost Mountain Nursery designed the landscaping of the porch and patio area of the Art and Design Show House.
Inspired by nature and color, Cindy and Sue desire to see plant combinations that are harmonious and pleasing. They plant with beauty, as well as longevity in mind.
“We love to see nature come together in everyday life to create a little pleasure garden for each of our customers,” they say.

Ginger and Nancy of Designers GHI, LLC designed the foyer of the Art and Design Show House. The foyer features original paintings by Seth Havercamp, Clara Blalock and Maci Scheuer. Also featured is a bronze sculpture by Belinda Sillars and Richard Thompson and original hand-painted pillows by Nancy Hildreth (the interior designer herself).
Ginger and Nancy work to transform each client’s individual spirit into a living environment. The two designers graduated together from the Art Institute of Atlanta and after pursuing different careers in design, they formed a partnership in 1999.

Jerome of Interior Design, Inc, designed the Art and Design Show House dining room. His bold use of color in the dining room in concert with the show house’s neutral palette is striking.
Jerome’s talent comes from personal study and a natural love of interior design. After working for several design-related companies for numerous years, Jerome opened his own firm in 1980. Since then, his work has taken him from the East Coast to West Coast and many places in-between.
“I am extremely fortunate that my vocation is my avocation and my hobby,” he notes.

Ann of Antiques & Interior and Molly of Classic Hill Ltd. designed the second bedroom of the Art and Design Show House. Linda Flournoy’s St. Simons marsh painting served as the art inspiration for the bedroom, as well as a painting by Claire Dunaway and a mixture of vintage and new furnishings.
Sisters Ann and Molly share similar design philosophies and interests and have worked on many design projects together. The pair was introduced to the world of design at young ages as their mother was an avid antique collector and dealer. They specialize in custom art and incorporate “one of a kind” hand-painted prints and frames in their designs to achieve a timeless, yet striking end result.
“I believe everyone should have access to beautiful pieces, interesting antiques, and art that speaks to them personally,” asserts Ann. “Hopefully, this will inspire creativity in the community and arouse excitement in the decorative arts.”

Upper Level Landing
In its inaugural year, the Art and Design Show House has been an enormous undertaking. Thanks to the dedication and drive of lead designers and volunteers Kathy Kuruc, Melinda Heidt and Beth Meyer, the house was envisioned and designed in six months. Together, they approached, recruited and coordinated interior designers and local artists.
The design team will be using artwork by Steve Penley as art inspiration for the Show House’s landing, a sculpture piece and a blown glass piece from DK Gallery, and a custom painting by Eduin Rosell.

Kathy of RHS Interiors became an interior designer because it gave her the opportunity to combine her love of art, fabrics, color and architecture and fed her need for creativity. Kathy’s aesthetic includes creating spaces that reflect the client, location, and use of that space.
“It is a great honor to be a part of the 2011 Art and Design Show House. This is one of the most exciting projects I have worked on in a long time because of the benefit to our community and the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art,” explains Kathy. “The 2011 show house will be a treat for anyone who loves the arts and because it is a benefit for the museum, it will mean more arts for the community.”
Kathy is involved in the community in many ways, including serving as a caseworker for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Cobb Marietta Junior League, and St. Catherines of Sienna. She has also worked with the American Red Cross Southeast Headquarters, Cannon, Honey Baked Ham Southeast Headquarters, and Flightworks.

As a longtime resident of Marietta and a member of the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Melinda’s goal for the Art and Design Show House is to present a cohesive project that the local and surrounding communities can enjoy.
With a love of all things design, Melinda, who owns M. Dimensions, uses classic furniture with a combination of traditional and contemporary fabrics and art to help clients create an environment that is a reflection of themselves. Melinda holds a Bachelor’s of Science in interior design from the University of Georgia.

Beth of Distinctive Details says that the Art and Design Show House will be a breath of fresh air in terms of design in the Marietta and Cobb area. Beth incorporates timeless style with an eclectic flair in her designs. When designing a space for a client, it is her goal to reflect the client’s personality in the interior with attention to detail.

Barbara, Debbie and Anne of Outrageous Interiors designed the Art and Design Show House guest room. The designers showcased “How She Learned to Fly” by Jeanie Tomanek of DK Gallery as the art inspiration for the room’s décor. They also selected pieces of art from Guild Masters. Guild Masters is a leading supplier of accent furniture, case goods, lighting, and accessories.
The show house is the third show for which these award-winning designers have joined forces. The combined experience of Barbara, Debbie and Anne results in an ageless classic format for today’s modern living.
At Outrageous Interiors, designers create interiors–-whether one room or an entire home-–that are both functional and beautiful for years of living and entertaining. The company supports many charity events, which have included Camp Hope Charity Event and Extreme Makeover: Tipton-Smith 2007.

Barbara has designed for Outrageous Interiors for nine years. Barbara received a degree in Art History from Marymount College in New York.

Yvonne of Portwood & Portwood Design Inc. designed the master bedroom and master bathroom of the Art and Design Show House. The master bedroom showcases Elizabeth Barber’s “Primrose Landscape” and Amanda Henrich’s “Mother and Child.” In the master bathroom, Yvonne chose to feature Helen DeRamus’ “Multiple Images,” Patrick McGannon’s “Trance,” and Anne Packard’s “By Myself,” all of which serve as inspiration for the overall design.
“All the artwork I selected for the rooms is special,” notes Yvonne. “Each piece has a unique character, style and technique that I think the show house can relate to and appreciate.”
Yvonne is looking forward to the opportunity of getting more involved in the community through the show house project. She believes it is important to promote the historic places, art museums, galleries and culture of the community, including the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.
As a designer, Yvonne’s objective is to create timeless designs that incorporate a client’s vision and style, while considering the functionality of the spaces. Each experience requires unique furniture, fabrics, linens, drapery, and accessories to achieve a character and carry a warm, relaxed, and classic feel across the space. Her passion for art, fabrics, and fashion goes back to her childhood when her mother, an aspiring seamstress and fashion designer, introduced her to textures and colors. She also remembers spending much of her childhood in art class.
Yvonne volunteers her time at her church and serves on the Mission Committee with MUST Ministries, volunteers on the Hospitality Committee, Red Ribbon committee, and the Football Booster Club for her sons’ schools.

Kelli of Rustique designed the Art and Design Show House kitchen and breakfast room. The vintage décor with one-of-a-kind restoration pieces and mixed modern lighting and artwork serves as a reflection of Rustique. The combinations of painted, distressed, and waxed finishes with chenille fabrics create a warm, relaxed family-friendly environment. Kelli has selected fine artwork from Mary Jane Huegel as her art inspiration for the space. Mary Jane is painting a custom piece, whose inspiration returns to the main house on the property. It will include a pasture scene with trees and a barn in natural earth tones.
“I believe everyone should select original, timeless pieces that create inspiration and design around those pieces,” Kelli says.
Even as a child, Kelli had a natural inclination for design, which led her to pursue an interior design degree from Miami University in Ohio. Kelli enjoys traveling the world, finding unique pieces and helping clients incorporate these different styles in their personal homes and commercial spaces. To Kelli, great design has a cohesive flow without the need for everything to match.

Tony of Acorn Home and Garden designed the Art and Design Show House bonus/media room. Tony is featuring artwork by Eduin Rosell and included several custom-designed and upholstered pieces, along with original art and a unique media center.
“I am so pleased with the opportunity to work on the show house with so many of our local designers and artists,” says Tony. “It is so great to have an event like this in my hometown.”
Tony is the co-founder of Acorn Home and Garden, a retail establishment that opened in the fall of 2005 which showcases Tony’s innovative floral creations and provides a forum for his clients to purchase unique home décor and furnishings.
Designing and decorating with a timeless and traditional style, Tony is a self-taught designer. He enjoys finding ways to bring out the client’s personality and ensures the space feels like a home, rather than a house. He was inspired by his mother and grandmothers to develop his design abilities. Their eccentric style of seasonal decorating and “over the top” styling contribute to his success as a designer.
In the past, Tony has worked with the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, local arts groups, Christian Mission Groups, MUST Ministries, the Baptist Home Mission Board, and Pebblebrook High School’s performing arts program.

Chris of Chris Hutcheson Design designed the living room of the Art and Design Show House, with the assistance of Anne Morris. “Mildred” by Carolyn Killebrew of DK Gallery of Marietta will serve as the artistic inspiration for the room. The designers will include what Chris calls “historical texture” in the living room, giving the space both personality and depth. Re-purposed items such as a reclaimed wooden coffee table will be found in the room.
Chris feels the project is a great opportunity to support a local treasure–the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art–because of its addition of “historical texture” to Marietta.
Known for her fresh and unique twist on classic looks with livable design, Chris provides a creative mix of simplicity and depth in her design approach. Fresh, relaxed, and a little unexpected have become her design trademarks throughout the Southeast.
A daughter of an Air Force pilot, Chris and her family moved often when she was growing up. Every new house proved to be an adventure of space planning and finding ways to add family history to the new homes. It is from these experiences that Chris developed a love of design.
Chris opened Chris Hutcheson Designs in 2004. She is a Residential Interior Design graduate from the Atlanta College of Art and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She also holds a BBA degree from Georgia Southern University. Her work won the 2006 HGTV/IRIS design of the year award, has been showcased in the 2009 Forest Hill Home tour, and the 2010 Emory Hospital Holiday Home tour. Chris’ designs have also been featured in the Marietta Journal and Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine.

The show house is made possible by partnerships with many different sponsors who have brought this idea to life.
“SCANA Energy, presenting sponsor of the Show House, is proud to partner with the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art to provide this wonderful addition of culture and design to Cobb County,” says Simone McKinney of SCANA Energy. “We are always trying to work in a positive way with nonprofit organizations throughout Metro Atlanta. The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art is a great organization to partner with.” SCANA Energy works with groups across Georgia that improve the quality of life in the communities they serve. “SCANA Energy is more than just a natural gas provider,” explains McKinney. “We are your friends and neighbors. Together, we can highlight the culture and the design in Cobb County.”
Cathy Brazeal, the Show House Chairperson and board member of the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, states, “We are thrilled to have SCANA Energy partner with us on this endeavor of design, art and culinary expertise.”
