With an adorable little 5-year-old boy and two babies on the way, I will be the first to admit that my husband and I waited a little longer in between date nights than we should have. So you can imagine how excited we were to take a little trip to The Vineyard Café & Dinner Theatre to see their latest production of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot In The Park.”
Located on the Historic Marietta Square, the entire night was exactly what we needed. From the moment we stepped into the dinner theatre, we were immediately whisked away into a different world—a world of fun, laughter, fellowship and food (Really, really good food!). The hospitality is nothing short of spectacular. The whole dining experience felt like a night with family instead of strangers. And then there’s the added bonus of watching an incredible show after a delightful meal.
Written by the beloved Neil Simon, the romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park” follows newlyweds Corie and Paul as they navigate the ups and downs of being married for the first week after their honeymoon in their very first apartment. Add in an adorable handyman, a vivacious mother and a quirky upstairs neighbor and you’ve got the combination for laughs that Simon is most known for. Bringing the play to life is an amazingly talented cast of experienced and seasoned actors who’ve worked in television, film and the stage from coast to coast. And after the show, the entire audience gets the chance to meet the cast after the performance. It was the BEST part of the whole night.
Well, besides the delicious food.
Each meal is served buffet-style and specifically catered for each show. While you may have had some fried chicken and fried green tomatoes for “Driving Miss Daisy,” we were served eggplant rollatini, basil and mozzarella stuffed chicken sausage in a homemade veggie marinara, green beans almondine, cheesy cauliflower with a garden salad and a yummy garlic knot. Dessert was a delightful sea salt caramel cheesecake that was literally mouthwatering. The date night was made even more fun with a choice of beer or wine (Well, for my husband at least!). It was honestly so yummy.
I can’t rave about the experience enough! It was the perfect date night and I can’t wait to do it again soon. Sadly, there has been a steady decline in the arts in our area and there aren’t enough people supporting the theatre community. Make it a point to try The Vineyard Café & Dinner Theatre to support a great local business with wonderful ownership all while supporting the arts as well. It’s a memorable experience at a very affordable price.
With only two performances left on Friday, April 28th and Saturday April 29th, space is limited and you must order your tickets within 24 hours of the event. Tickets are ONLY $40 per person for dinner and a show. (You really can’t beat the price!). Dinner is at 7 p.m. followed by the show at 8:15 p.m. Get your tickets by calling the Café at (678)-581-3771. Upcoming shows to look for are “Steel Magnolias” coming in June, “Red, White and Tuna” coming in July, and “Graceland” in August.
