junior league marietta mardi gras 5k and 1k

the gig:

Mardi Gras. Always sounds like a great celebration to be a part of…in theory. But, do you really want to be surrounded by a liquored-up crowd of people, many of whom may or may not have been too drunk to shower in the last couple of days, being shouted at to lift your shirt in order to receive brightly colored Dollar Store jewelry? Yeah, we didn’t think so.

Here is our suggested alternative: grab your running shoes and head over to the Marietta Square for the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta (JLCM) Mardi Gras 5K and 1K. You can run, walk or trot with your tot, but it will all benefit the many worthy charities the JLCM serves and not require you to show any body parts in order to receive beads. Plus, it’s a certified Peachtree Road Race Qualifier! Before you slip your running shoes on, clean out your closet and collect your used shoes to drop off in the Shoes for the Cure donation bins at the race. And, don’t worry, just because you’re not in the French Quarter it doesn’t mean you have to be a teetotaler. Marlow’s Tavern in Kennesaw is hosting a post-race brunch for all participants – Mimosas, anyone?!
