The Gig:
Have you ever found a piece of art and fallen so in love with it that you designed a whole room around it? Well, The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is hosting The Inaugural Art & Design Show House, where gorgeous home designs and decor will be on display–all coordinated around art. It will be a synergistic melding of the community’s most inspiring artists and designers.
The 2011 show house, built by Marietta developer Mark Kirk, is located at 21 Whitlock Drive and boasts 16 rooms decorated by 21 different designers.
The show house will open with “The Reveal”: a lovely candlelit garden party on May 6, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., that will provide attendees with a first look at the design and gallery. Supporters will meet in the extraordinary candlelit garden at The Lawrence House, directly adjacent to the 2011 show house, to enjoy live music and appetizers, with cocktails from the cash bar. There will also be a silent auction with a limited collection of items benefiting the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. “The Reveal” tickets are $75 and attire is cocktail casual.
In addition to hosting “The Reveal” party, The Lawrence House is showcasing a Johnnie Gabriel cooking demonstration (yummy details to be announced soon!) and donating 30 percent of all jewelry and art gallery sales to benefit the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art.
A call for entries is available to all artists; an entry form can be found on the show house’s website or downloaded here.
What a lovely way to celebrate Mother’s Day!
