Kristen

submitted by her husband~ Kristen is a treasure of impeccable character, a faithful wife, and Mom of the year!  The last 12 months have included dizzying lows in our journey as a family. In the midst of our most challenging season, bright spots have emerged. Outside of God’s provision, Kristen has been the source of these bright spots for our family, especially our three little boys!
Despite unemployment, family health challenges, financial despair, and two relocations, Kristen has kept the emotional, intellectual, and physical health of our sons as her first priority. She has sacrificed every level of her own interests to provide the best life experience our boys can possibly have every day.
She educates and inspires them with tireless creativity. As a result, they are each at or ahead of their age in development. On their birthdays, she writes, illustrates, and binds a custom storybook just for the birthday boy that teaches a core character trait based around his favorite character. She ensures they experience a wide range of the world around them and the history of it. It’s impossible to list all the reasons Kristen is deserving of this honor with the word limit. Thanks for your kind consideration!

Kay

submitted by her daughter~ Mama and Daddy gave birth to a healthy baby girl in 1976.  Eighteen months later my older sister Lauren lost all normal abilities.  My parents struggled with multiple misdiagnoses for several years until my sister was about 8 years old and formally diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. My sister and I are 5 years a part in age and even though I never heard her speak, her love embraced me and taught me life lessons I could never have learned anywhere else.  My parents have given their lives to the care of my sister.  Mama made her job to care for my sister and her multitude of needs. Many years of “fighting the system” for Lauren-with special needs school classes-appropriate medical care-has been my mother’s life from 1976-2007.  Tragically, in 2007 my sister passed away. We have been on a journey of healing for the past three years and this contest would give our mom a treat that she has never had and totally deserves. She’s never taken any time in the past 33 years to do anything for herself-she care gives for others now in Lauren’s absence.  She’s very deserving and I’d love to give her this honor and surprise.

Carol

submitted by her daughter~ I’m sure most wouldn’t consider my mom to be the storybook mother. She doesn’t spoil my sister and I by any means. She never attained a college degree. Our home isn’t spotless, nor does she have dinner waiting for us every night. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Since my parents’ divorce, my mom has served as an inspiration to my sister and I. Steadfast in succeeding as a single mom, she has dabbled in multiple career paths- lending to both encouraging successes and humbling setbacks. With each victory and failure, she remains faithful to God and the idea that all will work out. She does everything in her power to show her undying love for my sister and I daily through tacky, yet deeply appreciated notes. She’s taught us the difficult lesson that money does not buy happiness and the lack of it does not warrant sorrow. She’s taught us to be grateful for all, for everything is a gift. Through her lack of a college degree, she has demonstrated the priceless value of a college education. My mother, Carol, has demonstrated what it means to be an inspirational person, hard-working single woman, and an incredible mother.

Melissa

submitted by her son~ My mom is the best mom a boy could ever have. She goes the extra mile with cooking, running my two brothers nad me to our activities, and volunteering. She is always organized. I am happpy that I have a one of a kind mom. She makes every holiday special, especially birthdays. My mom plays board games with me, helps me with my homework, plans family movie nights, and tells the best jokes. My mom is an optimist, the glass is half full! My mom is Christ-like to everyone even when it is hard. Whenever I look at my mom, she is always diligently working. My mom is fun and enjoyable. When it is a dark and gloomy day, my mom is always there to have fun and make arts and crafts.I don’t know how I would live without my mom being so organized. When there is a special date, my mom marks it right on her calender just like that. I do not know why my mom is not a gourmet chef. My moms spaghetti, especially her meatballs, are the best! My mom is the best mom. I could not live without her. I love her very much.

Guelda

poem submitted by her son~ My mom is a real treasure/ She helps in many ways/ I’ll try to list a few of them/ But know there’s more to say.
She drives when it’s time to travel/ She cleans and dusts our home/ She listens when I talk to her/ and calls me when I roam.
She taught me my good manners/ Please and thank you, sir and ma’am/ She cooks me nutritious dinners/ And desserts that are shazam!
She reads me stories and sings songs/ We go to church and pray/ She likes to garden outside all throughout the day./ She helps me when I’m sick
And keeps me on the go/ She also makes me exercise/ So I won’t be so slow.
She gives me hugs and kisses/ and helps me with my chores/ She cheers me when I’m sad/ She’s the one I truly adore.

Jessica T.

submitted by her mother~ I am nominating my daughter, Jessica T., as the 2010 Mom Of The Year because of her dedication to motherhood and at the same time her determination to finish nursing school. Her son, Gavin is two and a half years old and for the last two years she has lovingly and unselfishly mothered Gavin while working much determination to finish nursing school. She went to college right from high school and flunked out because she wasn’t interested in going to college at that time. She became a mother at 21 and quickly realized the importance of a good job and providing all that she could for her son. While maintaining all A’s and B’s in college, she has not wavered in the love and nurturing of her son. I truly admire her love and caring of her son and never wasting one minute of time that can be spent with him. I often offer for Gavin to spend the day or the night with us so that she might have some quiet time or study time or just “me” time, but she refuses, not letting a precious minute of time that can be spent with him.

Rachel

submitted by her daughter~ My mother has given up so much and has never asked for anything in return. She helps everybody that crosses her path and never overlooks anybody. She is always willing to help anyone in need. She has always puts other people first and never herself. My grandmother got sick a couple of years ago and my mother helped her through her treatment and was always by her side. She gave up vacations, trips, and eating out just to be able to take care of her mother. She never complains about anything and always puts on a happy face even though she may not be. She has always believed in me and others and has never given up on anything or anybody. She is always willing to take on projects that other people would not want to do. She really is a true hero and angel. She works extra hard and because of that she has medical problems. I want to give this to her to thank her for being who she is. I want to be able to give her what she has given everybody else, such as love, determination, selflessness, and courage. She deserves to be taken care of.

Angie

submitted by her mother~ My daughter Angie really “takes the cake.” She has a son named Christopher. He is 9 years old. He is her only child. She is the best mom I have ever seen which is quite amazing since I was not the best role model for her. She puts him ahead of any needs she might have. He loves his Dad, but Chris adores his Mom. Every child should have a mom like Angie. If that were the case, the world would be a better place. She helps him with his homework; takes him to church; spends time hunting frogs with him; buys his favorite kind of clothes and cooks his favorite foods. She goes fishing with him and Dad and will get up at 5:00 a.m. to go deer hunting. He has never spent the night away from home without his Mom and Dad. His Mom protects him and makes sure he is safe and secure and watched over. There are pictures of Chris all over their house. From the time he was born to today. She makes sure he feels loved. She should be “Mom of the Year” for sure.

Margaret

submitted by her daughter~ I would like to nominate my mother, Margaret, for your “You Take the Cake” Mom of the Year Search! My mom meets the description of a loving, giving mother but goes above and beyond the call of duty. The past year and a half I have been sick with an auto-immune disease called Crohns. February 1, 2010, I was hospitalized for five days in which my surgeon removed a portion of my small bowel. Three months later I am on the road to recovery but every day is a struggle.

So…back to your “Mom of the Year”….Margaret. She moved in with my family and became a stay-at-home mom again at the age of 78! I have two small boys ages 4 and 1……say no further, right? She stepped into my shoes and became MOM with a capital M! Feeding, bathing, clothing, carpooling, cleaning, etc., etc. etc. We all know the protocol. I should be giving back to her at this time in my life but she became the ultimate care GIVER! She is the definition of “Mom of the Year” in my book even if she never wins an award.

Heather

submitted by her sister-in-law~ Heather, my sister-in-law, takes the cake when it comes to motherhood. I want to hate her because she looks like a walking Barbie doll. She can eat whatever she wants and not gain a pound. Yeah, she’s one of those people.  However, she is such a great mom that I have to love her anyway. She is what I call a “hands on mom.” Not hands on like “I will put my hands on your little bottom if you don’t…” but more like “I will put my hands in the sand with you and make the most fabulous castle.” Her girls are always happily baking, swinging, laughing, learning…and a slew of other -ing activities with their mom, Heather.  She is not a mere spectator in their lives, but rather a right-there-with-them kind of gal. Heather and her daughters are always helping out the community and loving on others. Her goal as a mom is to teach her kids to see a need and get right in there and serve someone else. She deserves some recognition for being a positive, engaging parent. And she also deserves to gain a few pounds from that cake. (Okay, not really that last part).

Trish

submitted by her husband~ My wife, Trish, really deserves to be “Mom of the Year” because she is always giving back through the church, charities, non profit organizations, almost all her time, and especially to our three adopted children from China. She is always taking them and keeping them involved in sports, dance, ice skating, girl scouts, and gymnastics. At night she is helping all three with their homework and going to PTA meetings and setting up room mom activities. She does all this before she does anything for herself. She is very deserving for this award and honor. Thank you for your consideration.

Karen

submitted by her friend/neighbor~ I would like to submit a nomination for Mom of the Year … Karen. She is the amazing mother to two lively, well-adjusted little boys, Brian & Evan. Karen teaches and plays every sport imaginable with her boys, including just a few: football, baseball, tennis, street hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, etc. Not only is she the mom of all trades in the sports arena, she spends a good bit of time showing the boys how to cook. They are fully schooled on nutritional values in foods and which herbs go best with which meats and such, to name a few of the things she teaches them. It is really interesting to see two boys watch and love to cook and soak it all in. Not only is Karen an amazing mother, but she is also the world’s best friend anyone, such as myself, is lucky enough to have. She is adored by everyone in our neighborhood and we’d do anything for her, as we all know she’d do anything for us. (I also adore her mother as my own!) Please consider this nomination as the winner above all. (I can submit better pictures, should you need them.)

Jessica C.

submitted by her mother~ I would like to nominate Jessica C. for Mom of the Year. Jessica is the devoted mother of Cameron. Cameron is two and a half years old. He was born early and had a heart operation at four months of age. He has had several hospitalizations. Yet, through everything, Jessica has remained calm. She spends a lot of time with her son. Reading to him and playing games are always a part of their day. She has a busy schedule with working as a teacher and attending KSU as a graduate student. Jessica even finds time to coach a high school gymnastics team. I am very proud of her, as is her husband. I think I know her well, because I am her mother. I believe she does an outstanding job of balancing the demands that face every young mother.

Halaveshia

Halaveshia is the 29-year-old mother of three children with the oldest being 7-year-old Landon, who is deaf and autistic. Halaveshia has thrived, since learning that Landon was deaf, to get him the best help available. Against everyone’s will, she had him implanted with the cochlear implant in 2005 so that he can her. It works great! And then after he failed kindergarten in 2009 in her small county she began to seek ways to better his education so she packed up and moved the family to Cobb Co. so that he can be better evaluated and helped with his deaf/hard of hearing education. Since being here he was diagnosed as being autistic and is receiving great help. Halaveshia is a young mother/wife, she works for DFCS and works hard and takes care of her children at whatever costs. She deserves to be pampered and get a day to herself. She never takes a break!

Kay personifies the Proverbs 31 godly woman. Although she had a daughter with Rhett Syndome, her time and life were filled with doing a mission to help her daughters, and to encourage others. If you were down, call Kay, she would lift you. If you were happy, call Kay, she would share your joy. If you were treated unfairly, call Kay, she would make everything OK/. If your heart was breaking, call Kay, she could mend it.

There is no mother that deserves this award more than Carol. She is the sweetest, funniest, most caring, weirdest, thoughtful, hard-working, loving, and wonderful single mom that anyone could ever ask for. She is the best mother to her daughters. Her funky nature adds humor to any situation. Her optimism adds a light of sunshine to any gloomy moment. She has raised two strong, understanding, and hard-working girls who know what it means to life for those you love and work hard to make your life better. Carol is an inspiration!!

  3. Rachel June 10, 2010 at 1:44 am #

My impression of Carol as a mother is nothing short of phenomenal. She is the greatest mother anyone could ask for. Despite the hardships she and her family have had to endure, Carol still understands that her role as a mother is and always will be her primary obligation in life; which is reflected by the way she has raised her two wonderful daughters as well as her motherly ways.

  4. Haley June 10, 2010 at 1:41 am #

As Carol’s daughter, I of course, could not think of anyone better to win this award. haha My mom has provided for me my whole life, whether it be via emotional, financial, or physical support. Although she is not always able to fully support me at all times, she always tries her best. Since getting divorced 8 years ago, my mom has seriously not taken a day to spend with herself and relax. She envies my sister and I everytime we go on a simple vacation, and I truly wish that she could switch places with me because she deserves it so much more than we do. This last year has proved a difficult one for my mom on all avenues. I don’t know many people who would be as eternally optimistic as my mother in the situations in which she has been placed. My mom has had to make life-changing sacrifices, and never lost hope or shown an attitude of despair or sadness. My mom would give the clothes off her back to anyone. Even when holiday money is tight, my mom finds a way to give to provide others with a joyful holiday season. My mom would do anything for anyone, and I think she derserves to be gifted. My mom Carol will always be “Mother of the Year” in my eyes and heart!

  5. Maria M June 10, 2010 at 1:36 am #

Carol is such an outstanding mother to Haley and Laura. I look up to her as both a mother and a woman because she has been through so much in her life as a mother and still continues to be the best mother anyone could ask for. I cannot think of anyone else on the face of this earth that is more deserving at this time than Carol. My mind races with the many circumstances that she has had in her life and continues to have, which would normally distract someone from their performance as a mother; however, Carol has used the many obstacles of her life to better herself as a person and, most importantly, a mother.

  6. Katie June 10, 2010 at 1:30 am #

Carol has been such a profound influence in my life as her daughter, Haley, has been one of my best friends since Kindergarten. She has overcome many obstacles in her life as a mother, yet she continues to show such overwhelming love and dedication to her role as a mother. I can undoubtedly say that Carol shows the utmost faithfulness to daughters, Laura and Haley, everyday. Her role as a mother is a completely new level of difficulty as she is, in fact, a single mother; which makes Carol stand out in my mind as a remarkable mother and friend to both her daughters and all those who love and care about her.

Carol is beyond deserving of this award. Her uniqueness as a person, and dedication towards her role as a mother are only two of the many noteworthy qualities Carol possesses as a woman.

  7. Erin June 10, 2010 at 1:20 am #

CAROL IS SO DESERVING OF THIS AWARD! Carol is my friend’s mom and I have seen her devote her WHOLE life to her two daughters. She is an AWESOME single mom, working all day, everyday in order to provide a wonderful life for her kids. For each holiday, she sends her college aged dahughter a basket and goodies. But the best thing of the basket is by far the notes. Haley’s mom, Carol, is so wacky and tacky, yet extremely caring and sentimental. She has this one quote that she always uses on all of her notes, “Everyone is unique, wonderful, and one of a kind.” Carol is exactly this. She is unique- kinda cooky at times, yet always fun loving and optimistic. Wonderful, she is the BEST mother that anyone could ever ask for as she would give EVERYTHING for her children to be happy and successful. And one of a kind she defnitely is. She is faithful that all will work out in the long run and knows that God put her in each and every situation for a reason- for her unique situation makes her who she is. I LOVE CAROL!!

  8. Jerry Varnadoe June 9, 2010 at 9:06 pm #

I echo Sharon’s comments about her MOM. What a wonderful, sweet kind and totally giving individual. Her children, husband and entire family have always been first in her life, and she has done little if anything for herself in the thirty-five years I have known this family. Lauren’s well being was Kay’s mission in life 24/7. How she managed to care for Lauren in addition Sharon and Dick her husband is unbelievable. Not to mention aging parents until there deaths.

What a wonderful deserving MOM. God has a very special place in Heaven for MOMS like Kay Fellers.

  9. Kay June 9, 2010 at 2:49 pm #

Kay inspires me with her bravery and faith. She has been through so much in raising and fighting for a child with Retts and then losing her. Even through her own pain and grief, she has continued to help others with special needs and be a special “angel” to her friends and family. I can think of no one more deserving of this awards.

  10. kathie June 9, 2010 at 12:33 pm #

Kay has always had a way of taking people under her wing! As a young teacher, I learned to respect and love her 37 years ago. I was there when her daughter Lauren was born. She and her husband ,Dick, have devoted their lives to the care of their children. Lauren’s needs were numerous, but Kay maintained a normal life for Sharon. She has truly given her life for her family. No better choice could be found for Mother of the Year. She continues to care for others and little spoiling would be wonderful for this true Southern lady!

  11. Lawana Drummond June 3, 2010 at 6:57 pm #

    Kristen
submitted by a family friend-I have seen Kristen in many phases of her life; from a college graduate, young wife, and now mother of three active boys. In every role she seems to thrive and work hard to do her very best.
Kristen is one of the most dedicated mothers I have ever known. I love keeping up with her and her family through her blog. You can see how she puts so much effort into everything she does with her 3 boys regarding their education, spiritual training, and finding unique ways for them to have fun!! She has triumphed over her health issues and tough financial times. Kristen is also a great encourager to her husband, Vince.

Her faith and positive attitude are evidenced in how she lives her daily life. She would be a very deserving candidate for this award.

  12. Suzanne June 3, 2010 at 5:01 pm #

Kristen is an amazing young woman who loves her husband and her children with a passion that is so inspiring to all who know. Honestly, it seems as though they have had one challenge after the other these past few years – hard challenges that take your breathe away for a moment. They are the kind of challenges that make you want to stop and “get off” the bus for just a few moments. Kristen doesn’t do that, she steps forward and loves her family just a little more, encourages them to continue to look to God for their hope, and then smiles and goes on to the next thing. She loves those boys and begins each day with a plan to make sure they feel loved beyond measure and that their days is full of love, learning, laughter, and memories that they will cherish always.

Kristen deserves every award out there for being mom of the year, but the best thing about her is that winning or not winning won’t affect how she greets the day tomorrow – with a smile and the desire to invest in her family for another day.

  13. Carol Garrett June 3, 2010 at 4:05 pm #

Kristen is my daughter-in-law and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is a devout Christian, devoted wife and super mom to three little boys. She has had to do a lot of adjusting over the last several years, but she has been a trooper. She maintains her own blog which reflects her abilities to teach her children and help other young mothers. Kristen is most deserving of this honor as “Mom of the Year”

  14. Scott June 3, 2010 at 11:45 am #

I can’t think of a more loving, hardworking, resilient, and deserving mother than Carol. In good times or in bad, feast or famine, Carol has always put her daughters before herself and done so with a humble humility that is inspiring to all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.

  15. Mother Loving June 2, 2010 at 8:46 pm #

Veshia has my vote! I know there are other wonderful and deserving mothers in this contest, but Veshia has truly shown the attributes of a good mother. Standing in the face of what could probably cause others to be disturbed, discouraged and disheartened, Veshia has taken on the task of motherhood like a true God-fearing woman. I am very proud of her.

  16. Donna June 2, 2010 at 1:14 am #

Carol is an indescribable pillar of strength, courage and positive outlook. She sustains these characteristics during the toughest of tough times. She would give you the shirt off her back as long as she had one more hanging in her closet….in otherwords, she has a huge heart and handles life’s trials and tribulations with an abundant grace. She loves her 2 daughters and has always done what she has needed to do to provide for them and to protect them. She did what it took to keep her youngest daughter in soccer, playing for her highschool, in hopes she will be offered a soccer scholarship one day. Soccer is her daughter’s life and Carol was not going to let anything keep her from playing. As a friend and neighbor, I knew without a doubt, I could count on Carol to help me out. I am a single mother as well, and Carol would always let me know she was there if I needed her to either check on my daughter if she was home sick, or run to the grocery store to pick up anything if I wasn’t feeling well. When my dryer broke, she graciously opened up her home so I could use her dryer at anytime. I have thought to myself, many times, I wish I was more loving and caring of people like Carol. I admire her heart and inner strength and if anyone is deserving of “Mom of the Year”, it is Carol !!!

  17. Karen C June 1, 2010 at 8:41 pm #

Halaveshia is a great mom and loves her kids soo much. She gets my vote! And should win this contest!

  18. karol greene hudley June 1, 2010 at 7:58 pm #

Halaveshia has been a friend to me for years in school. if she looks out for her family as much as she looked out for me… They are in wonderful hands. Thanks Veshia for being you!

  19. Karreecha Newby June 1, 2010 at 1:43 pm #

I had the oppotuinty to hear the great things that Ms. Halaveshia has experinced this far as a mother. My encounters with her has always been on a positive ‘note’. I would describe her as patient, helpful, generous, loving, and ‘committed’. I have so many reasons I would vote for her to mother of the year. However, she excels in her God given ‘strength’. Ever since she became a mother, she has demonstrated strength in the things pertaining to her children. Ms. Halaveshia deserves to be mother of the year. You’ve got my vote!

  20. Tameka June 1, 2010 at 11:58 am #

I know Veshia should win this because she is indeed a Strong, God- Fearing, Mother! She had raised her kids with integrity and she wont let anyone or anything hold her back! Shes a great role model for her daughter and also for her sons. They have a great Mom and i know they know it! Please crown her Mother of the Year because she truly deserves it!

  21. Terry Lonergan May 31, 2010 at 3:13 pm #

Jessica Coleman is the mother of son, Cameron, whose health issues have presented a series of challenges to Jessica. While working as a full-time educator, she has had to take Cameron to the emergency rooms multiple times for assistance and sometimes for a lengthy stay. She and her husband have managed to hold down jobs while they have shared hospital responsibilities so that Cameron would always have the company of his parents. While at home, Cameron is always carefully watched so his parents are able to respond quickly should he require hospitalization. Jessica takes care of Cameron, and her husband, and her duties within the school system with great care and love.

  23. TIffany King May 31, 2010 at 1:48 am #

Halaveshia is the defitnition of “Super Mom”. She has not let any obstacle (big or small) get in the way of being a mother to her children. She ALWAYS places them and their needs before ANY of her own. She truly knows what it means to be Mom. If anyone deserves this award, she does!!!!! Let’s get Veshia!!

  24. anna loerke May 30, 2010 at 1:54 am #

As a working single mother Ms. Carol is more than a mother to her two wonderful girls and is extremely sweet to everyone she meets. She works so hard to provide for my best friend Haley and her sister Laura. Like all mothers Carol puts her children’s needs before her’s and it would be wonderful to give a little back to her to show her how much her two girls appreciate her and how much we appreciate her kindness and love as well.

  25. Rashida Scott May 29, 2010 at 8:17 pm #

The reason I feel that Halaveshia deserve to win Mother of the Year is she a very genuine person. She is the same every time you see her she also gives the best advice that person can give, she will do any thing for her kids and the people around her she has been through a lot in her life but she still keep her head held high and keeps it moving. She has three of the most loving kids you want to met Vesha when you do win Mother of the Year make sure you enjoy your day you deserve it.

  26. Sherrie Uber May 29, 2010 at 6:53 pm #

Kristen finds her strength and security in God. She never whines and asks why, she simply turns to God. Whatever the need is, Kristen knows that God is her I AM. I have watched her struggle with decisions that to the outsider would seem like a no-brainer, but Kristen struggles to always be in tune with what God wants, not what human minds would want. She follows without hesitation, even if it seems not be make sense because her trust is in Elohim. Although to many she seems to be supernatural, in reality it is her God who Kristen allows to be supernatural through her obedience. What an amazing example to her children. What an amazing woman of God.

  27. Kathie Elliott May 29, 2010 at 1:01 pm #

My vote is for Jessica C. who is a hero in my eyes. She is taking care of her son, working on her Master’s degree and working with special needs children this summer.

    Carol Diane Jackson
As her father, I have much, much love and admiration for Carol.
Since she was a little tad she has overflowed with love and kindnessj
for all folks, especially her two talented daughters. After greeting
someone, she seems to know if there is a need and she works to fill
the need with help and happiness.

I am confident that Mrs. Halaveshia Hall-Mosley should win mother of the year for so many reasons. Its so many things that makes you a good mom and she has exceeded in all fields. Knowing her all my life, I really didn’t think motherhood was her calling but after her first child was born, I know God didn’t make a mistake and he knew he chose the perferct woman to become a mother. She has shown determination, confidence and sacrifices to make sure being a great mother is the least of her worries. Thanks Veisha for being a great mom!

Halaveshia is a very caring and committed bother.. She makes all sacrifices to ensure that her children get the best education and healthcare offered. She also keeps her children i na positive and caring environment to start and keep them on the right path in life..

I have know Carol for 40 years. She does everything with 100% of her heart. She has raised her daughters and developed her friendships with that huge heart. She is a joy to be around and a great mother!!

Jessica C. is a truly admirable mother. Although her career – as teacher and gymnastics coach (her Cobb County, Ga. team won the 2010 state title) – is a demanding one, Jessica’s primary commitment is always to her 2 1/2 year old son, Cameron. Cameron was born premature and has faced a number of hospitalizations since his birth. Jessica spends time each day reading to him and helping him with his developmental skills. His doctors are amazed at his progress. Submitted by her Aunt, Justine

  33. Kathryn May 28, 2010 at 10:18 am #

Jessica C. is a devoted mother to her beautiful boy Cameron. She has remained a strength in her family as Cameron has had a heart operation and has been hospitalized several times for other reasons. During all this she teaches full time, goes to graduate school and coaches high school gymanstics. Not only is she a GREAT mom she is a wonderful role model for other young women by showing them that just because you have had a difficult time doesn’t mean you can’t do what you love and raise wonderful, loving children

  34. Ben Gormley May 27, 2010 at 11:58 pm #

I love Ms. Carol. Though I have only met her a few times she has always treated me as if I was her own. She works sun up to sun down to ensure a satisfactory life for her two daughters. She has raised her two beautiful daughters to be polite and strong ladies. Ms. Carol is the greatest and really deserves to win the “Mother of the Year” contest.

  35. zach baker May 27, 2010 at 11:51 pm #

Ms. Carol is the best mother in the whole world and treats everyone she has every known as if they were a part of her family. She is a wonderful lady to be around and remains happy no matter the situation. She is the sweetest woman I have ever met and would do anything for me and her daughters friends. Ms. Carol has a genuine heart and deserves the Mom of the Year award above any other mother I have ever met.

  36. amanda pappas May 27, 2010 at 11:46 pm #

Carol is a wonderful mother to my best friend and her sister. She remains optimistic through any difficulties she may encounter. She is an extremely hard worker and does everything in her power to ensure that her children receive the love and respect that her girls deserve. Although nothing seems to work in her favor she remains grateful for what she earns and deserves a true gift from God.

  37. LaToya May 27, 2010 at 10:13 pm #

Halaveshia is a very loving, hard working, dedicated mother, and wife. She makes tremendous sacrifices to ensure that all three of her children’s needs and wants are met at all times. She is not only a full time wife and mother, she also maintains a full time career with DFCS. I can not imagine anyone who is more deserving of the 2010 Gabriel’s Mom of the Year Honor.

  38. Justine Giannetti May 27, 2010 at 8:37 pm #

Jessica Calhoun is an amazing young mother. While a full time teacher and coach of a Cobb County, Georgia, gymnastics team that won the 2010 state title, Jessica devotes herself , tirelessly, to the well-being of her 2 1/2-year-old son Cameron. Cameron has many medical challenges ahead as the result of his premature birth. No matter how busy she is, Jessica spends time with her son, daily, in activities that enhance his physical and intellectual growth.

Halaveshia is very deserving of this reward! Everything has been laid on the line about her and I have know her all of my life and she has always been strong willed and determined. Being a parent is hard but being a parent of an autistic and hard of hearing child is even harder. They are loved and cared for the same and they have the best mom in the world. They cherish her and everything about her. Good Luck Veshia !

  40. Paige Gregory May 27, 2010 at 7:57 pm #

My friend Carol has been nominated in this contest. I can not think of a better or more deserving mom. Carol has given her all to being a mother, mentor, role model and friend to her two girls. As a single mom, Carol has made sure that her girls have everything they need to become strong independent women. I think that Carol is most definitely the most deserving of all women in this contest!!

  41. Kathie Elliott May 27, 2010 at 7:31 pm #

My vote is for Jessica C. She is such a hard working mother. It is not easy to balance career and motherhood, but she does a fantastic job!

I have known Halaveshia since we were in grade school and I have never seen a more determined, loving, caring and involved individual. She takes pride in not only being a wonderful wife, but a loving, focused, concerned and energetic parent. We both face some of the same situations with our first born son’s but I can honestly say that the way this woman handles the most complicated things is amazing. I honestly feel that this woman not only deserve to be mom of the year, but mom of the decade!! Keep it up Veshia and I love you!

  43. Janet Cosby May 27, 2010 at 5:33 pm #

Kay is a remarkable woman that was blessed with two beautiful daughters. She lost Lauren a few weeks after the wedding of her daughter Sharon cutting short the celebration of that happy event. It would be a real tribute to celebrate Kay and let her know that all the good she has done in her lifetime hasn’t gone unnoticed and how much we all think of her.

  44. Jane May 27, 2010 at 4:10 pm #

Carol is one of the strongest women I know. Constantly being bombarded with different challenges in life, she always manages to keep her head on her shoulders and maintain her morals. She has been an amazing role model and an amazing mother. Carol works harder than anyone else I know and even when she is faced with adversity, she rises above and and finds a way to shed positive light on the situation. Through her faith in God and love for her family, she continues to make everyday her best and try to help as many people as possible along the way. She is well deserving of the “mother of the year” title for her amazing ability to inspire her children everyday to be positive and make the world a better place. Carol epitomizes an awsome mother and woman and changes the lives of everyone around her. I am lucky to know her

Re Carol, You can’t be around Carol five minutes that she doesn’t say something wonderful about her two daughters. She volunteers for Must ministries, she volunteers to help the soccer team, she is always there to encourage others. Much happiness to you my dear friend, you deserve a break today…Linda Stringer

You can’t be around Carol five minutes that she doesn’t tell you something wonderful her daughters are doing. Through much adversity she remains steadfast in her belief and praises God for each blessing. She has remained a steadfast friend and encourages others even as she needs encouragement. My best to you my dear friend. Thank you for being you. Linda Stringer

I have known Halaveshia since the 3rd or 4th grade and she has always been such a good friend. But knowing her as a mother has really inspired me to be a better mother! The way she interact with her kids is truley amazing! If anyone sould be mother of the Year its Mrs Halaveshia Hall- Mosely! She derserve it and more!

  53. Natasha Jones May 27, 2010 at 4:41 am #

Halaveshia is an outstanding mother to her children. I’ve known her years and taking care of her children and given them the best has always been her top priority! She deserves greatness for her dedication & hardwork:)))

  54. DEBRA R. MOSLEY May 26, 2010 at 8:47 pm #

Halaveshia and I are married to first cousins. When I met her I was impressed to see such a young lady deal with the hand was dealt to her. She at the time was the mother of two boys. To see her interact with these boys is so amazing, especially with one of her boys needed a lot of attention because of his disability. The one thing that caught my eye about this situation was that she would never allow him to use his disability as a crutch and hinder his abilities. watching her encourage this child and helping him realize he can be whatever he wanted to be, to never just settle for what the world has restricted him to was so amazing to me. I realized that she was building his character as well as his self esteem. She never showed favoritism to him because of his disability. Halavesia being a young mother with three kids stes an example as being almost the perfect mother, with me being older than she is she has taught me somethings by watching her interact with her children. My youngest daughter just graduated on Saturday May22 with honors and I am learning from this young lady. She teaches her children the value of life, never let anything hinder you from being what you want to be, she allow them to be kids and grow with integrity as well. There are so many ways I can descibe Halaveshia as good mother; as you can see. I have already said alot and could go on forever. Halaveshia, stand and take your bow; because in my book you are already the MOM OF THE YEAR!

  55. Allison Tarvin May 26, 2010 at 8:34 pm #

Kay Fellers deserves this award. I did not have the honor of knowing Lauren, but I count Sharon as one of my dearest friends. Mrs. Fellers modeled selflessness, service, kindness, and patience for Sharon as she cared for Lauren. My life is richer today as a result of Sharon’s embodiment of the same qualities. Sharon and her husband teach our church’s special needs Sunday school class. Also, Sharon is one of the best listeners that I’ve ever tortured with my long-winded stories about love and life. Mrs. Fellers has impacted so many with her life as a mother of both Sharon and Lauren, and I am thankful.

Halaveshia has gone though so much and never gave up. I attended high school with Halaveshia and even then I would have never imagined the struggles she has had to endure. She didn’t use those things as a crutch, yet she allowed them to motivate her to push and become to great mom she is today. I am very proud to know such a woman as herself!!!

Halaveshia is incredible! We go to church at CCD in Dallas, GA, and I get to see her being a wonderful mom and wife. She takes perfect care of her children, home, and is also helping to guide the youth of our church to become the great gifts of God they were meant to become. She deserves to be Mom of The Year because she truly is!

  67. Adrian Shaw May 26, 2010 at 5:33 pm #

Halaveshia you are doing a great job as a young mother. You are a strong, intelligent, and caring mother and wife. I think you deserve “MOM OF THE YEAR” and a round of applause and standing oviation.

Halaveshia is a powerhouse! She never quits and always puts a brave face on. She is a wonderful model and example to women as a mother. Her children are fruit of her love, support and tireless support! I am proud to call her my friend!

  69. Konterrias Thomas May 26, 2010 at 4:55 pm #

Halaveshia is my cousin in which she is a beautiful person inside and out. Her motherly duties never seems to stop as she is always involved with everything concerning them. She has a natural way with children even if they are not hers, they all are treated the same. There is no award greater enough to reward such an loving, dedicated, giving, sharing, supportive mother who sacrifices her all for the well-being of her children. She is always a winner in my book!!

  70. Haley May 26, 2010 at 3:55 pm #

Carol deserves to win because of everything she does for her family! I am her daughter’s friend and i feel like Carol is practically my own mother. She not only takes the time to help her daughters suceed inlife and give them a good life, but also she is willing to help anyone else. She has always let me come stay at her house when needed, and is always there for me to talk to her. She is so easy to talk to, and has been through a lot so she has really good advice. She is always looking at the positive side of things even with all the setbacks she has had to face in life, and will never stop working for her kids. She has been supportive of her younger daughters soccer career, and her older daughter’s club involvements. It can be diffiicult to be a single mother, but I Carol knows how to take control of the situation and bring the best out of her close-knit family. She has always remained faithful and spiritual through everything. I think of Carol as one of my own mothers, and I don’t know anyone who deserves “mom of the year” more than her!

  71. Hilere May 26, 2010 at 3:29 pm #

Carol is a strong single mom that raises two great children. She gives all she can to her children and she is a great mom.

Kay is a wonderful sister and sister-in-law who deserves to be “mother of the year” every day! Her life has been centered around being the best mother ever to her two daughters and the primary care-giver for her sweet Lauren. Kay has a wonderful heart and no matter what she has been through in life, she has a sweet smile and warm hug for everyone!

    We love you Kaycie!

Halaveshia is my sister and I wish there was a “sister of the year award” also..she is the prime example of a loving mother. She altered her entire life after she became a parent to devote all her time to the well-being of her children. She works very hard to give them what they need, deserve, and want in life. She has never flinched when learning my nephew had disabilities..some people would say “why me” my sister says “why not me!”

  76. BOBBY D. MOSLEY, SR May 26, 2010 at 11:52 am #

MY VOTE IF FOR MY LOVING WIFE, HALAVESHIA, SHE IS NOT ONLY THE MOTHER OF MY OUR (3) CHILDREN BUT SHE IS A DEVOTED DAUGHTER, FRIEND, SISTER, AUNT, NEICE, AND EVERYTHING A WOMAN CAN BE. NO ONE KNOWS, BETTER THAN ME, FIRST HAND, THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS MY WIFE HAS HAD RANGING FROM ILL CHILDREN TO JUST UP ALL NIGHT RESEARCHING HER HEART’S GUT FEELINGS ABOUT LANDON AND TRYING TO FIND THE BEST HELP AND BEST PLACE FOR OUR ENTIRE FAMILY SO THAT WE CAN BE COMFORTABLE AND HE CAN GAIN THE BEST MEDICAL AND EDUCATIONAL HELP AVAILABLE. I WAS NOT SURPRISED WHEN SHE SAID SHE WANTED TO MOVE TO COBB COUNTY B/C THAT’S WHERE THEY SAID “HELP” WAS AND ANYWHERE THERE IS “HELP” FOR ANY OF US, THAT IS WHERE YOU WILL FIND MY WIFE. SHE IS A YOUNG MOTHER/WIFE WITH A VERY MATURE HEART..SHE LOVES UNCONDITIONALLY AND DEVOTES ALL HER TIME TO OUR FAMILY. SHE ONLY SLEEPS A FEW HOURS A NIGHT AND AT 5AM HER DAY BEGINS, SHE IS A SOCCER MOM, FLAG FOOTBAL TEAM MOM, BASEBALL MOM, CASE WORKER, AND SHE WORKS WITH THE YOUTH IN OUR CHURCH, SHE LIMITS TIME FOR HERSELF TO SERVE OTHERS. AND SHE HAS NEVER LOST HER SMILE AND GRACE..SHE’S A #1-DEVOTED MOM AND WILL ALWAYS BE “THE MOTHER OF THE YEAR” IN OUR WORLD!

  77. Lisa May 26, 2010 at 10:41 am #

I voted for Guelda. She is a wonderful mother. And I know that because I get to stay with her son some. At age 7, We were going to the basement to play games, he opened the door, stepped aside and said “Ladies first.” Now only a mother of the year with good Godly teachings would even think to teach her child that. She totally deserves it.

  78. Gail May 25, 2010 at 11:10 pm #

Angie is not only a great Mom, but she is a good wife. She is my daughter and best friend. Our lives are more complete with her in them.

  79. Angela Walden May 25, 2010 at 11:01 pm #

I can not think of anyone more deserving than KAY! KAY dedicated 33 years of her of adult life to her two daughters; one of her daughters was a special needs child with Rett Syndrome. Kay loved and cared for her special needs child like no other mother I have ever known. KAY spent many hours every single day & night for 31 years taking great care of this child, but was sure to let her other child know how special she was also. A few years ago, KAY’s special needs “child” died at the age of 31. KAY continues to mother special needs adults who do not have mothers. She takes them on outings, to lunch, & cares for them. KAY always puts other people ahead of herself.

Margaret is the mother in law of my son, Michael. She has been an angel in my life and I know there are many who think the same. She is such a kind, considerate, loving and
generous woman. We have a very special friendship.

Jessica C. is the mother of Cameron. She is also a teacher leader of children with special needs and a coach of a high school gymnastics team. During this two and a half years that Cameron has been on earth, he has had some difficult times. He was born early, hospitalized several times, has had a surgery and procedures, and survived due to prayers and the love of his mother and daddy that somehow balance it all. With much love and support, they have been the best parents to Cam. He “reads” his books, runs like the wind, and has no fear. His attitude comes from his unwavering mother that is there doing all that she needs to do to keep him healthy in body, mind, and soul. Cam’s life is a special tribute to her and she is a mother above all mothers. Motherhood is still the greatest calling and the first teacher. Jessica C. is the highest caliber representative of a loving, caring, and educative mother. She deserves to “take the cake!!”

  82. Donna May 25, 2010 at 8:44 pm #

Kay certainly deserves the honor of winning and deserves the opportunity to be treated and pampered. She spent so many years of her life caring for her daughter Lauren without taking time to pamper herself, all along making sure that she gave equal love and nurturing to her other daughter Sharon. Kay’s kindness, love and concern for others are qualities that were passed along to Sharon by example. If you met Kay you would immediately know that everything written about her is true– she is a gracious and loving woman.

  83. Tomecca May 25, 2010 at 6:39 pm #

I have know Halaveshis for a long time and I know what hard of a decision it was for her to let Landon get the implant. As a matter of fact, we were working together at the time. Anyone who has had to deal with as many trials as she has definitely needs a break.

Margaret Johnson is a very special lady! She is tireless in giving of herself to others! Her heart is so kind and thoughtful to others. At 78 years old, she is better than ever! Through a very difficult year of health problems with her daughter, Jennifer, she took care of her two grandsons while taking care of Jennifer. I have never met anyone that is more of an example of what all women should strive to be. She is generous, sincere, loving and caring. She has also raised a beautiful daughter that is a mirror of all those characteristics and more! Margaret truly deserves to be ” Mom of the Year”

Mrs. Kay is a remarkable woman. She is so full of love for others that I often feel like one of her own children. She never fails to send me a card to celebrate something in my life or just to say hello. The love and grace she shows her family and friends each day is truly a picture of what a mother is meant to be. Love you Mama Kay. :)

I voted for my niece Halaveshia. She is a hard worker and a dedicated mother. She is loving, beautiful, outgoing, loves her children, an awesome mom, and most of all a GOD fearing woman. She goes above and beyond when it comes to her kids, she will tell you quick,”it’s not about what is best for me, but what is best for my children”! She is loved by many who have the chance of getting to know her. Halaveshia I love you and hope you win this nomination, but if not remember you don’t need a medal or piece of paper to say your the mom of the year…just look at the smiles on your children faces everyday and that is the best reward ever!!!!!!

Mrs. Halaveshia is AWESOME!!! She makes SURE that ALL of her children are taken care of day in and day out! Whether it be baseball for Landon or buying her kids artwork at school and framing them at home, she is a dedicated mother! Not only does she make sure that her children want for nothing, but she thrives in knowing that her children are getting the best education that they deserve, especially Landon who is hearing impared and autistic. Having a child who is hard of hearing and autistic is more than enough for one person, but she has 3 beautiful children who ALL get the SAME attention no matter the day of the week!I KNOW she deserves this time alone to herself, because if no one rewards her the time, she surely will not take it for herself because she is a dedicated and loving mom!

Kay truly deserves this after 33 years of caring so lovingly for her precious daughter Lauren. Now, Kay continues to care for other handicapped people in her community, giving her time, love, and expertise in navigating a difficult system of much “red tape” as families need help. Despite health issues Kay encounters herself from time to time, her mission in life has been to love the less fortunate around her regardless of the cost.

This gift for her would be (I know) appreciated and probably say “I know that others deserve it more. But – as a friend I would wholeheartly disagree.

    Good luck Guelda…..Miss Kitty

I think that Kay is definitely the most deserving of this award. She is the kindest, most loving and unselfish mom that I can imagine. She has given most of her life to care for her children…Lauren in particular. She When Kay loves, she loves completely and it shows. She has truly been on a healing journey over the past few years and winning this award would mean so much to her, to know that her love is being returned. Here’s to you Kay! We love you!

Guelda is an incredible friend and a wonderful wife. We have been married 15 ½ years and she has been a tremendous inspiration to me; supporting and encouraging me as I completed an associates degree, bachelors degree and masters degree. She spent 30 years teaching and loving elementary school children and now that she has retired she has more time to share with our family. I am blessed everyday to have her as both a wife and friend. I count myself lucky to have found the wife that King Lemuel describes in Proverbs 31. “She is worth far more than rubies”. Dale Harris

My mom truly deserves this she has been there for me and others. She always thinks of others and never herself and I feel she deserves to be treated with compassion and pampering. She is a teacher, a mother, a wife, a mentor, a giver, and so much more! I really want to give this to her for all her hard work and dedication to everything she does! love you so much mom!

I need to get my creative writing juices flowing for my sweet momma. She is such a light in this world and gives of herself to everyone she meets!

Ha! Yes, cs stephenson, that sounds like a great reason for a nomination! I love it. And if you’ve ever had one of Johnnie Gabriel’s cakes, you’ll know that it’s a divine way to be fattened up. (I’m NOT speaking from experience, of course. :)

I’d better get writing! My mother-in-law definitely deserves to win this!
