There You Glow

by Natalie Mirante, daughter of celebrity makeup artist Lisa Mirante

In the summer, you don’t need a lot of makeup. But, if you do wear it, you have to wear it right. How?

You need to work with your tan and enhance your skin. A tinted moisturizer with SPF is great if you need coverage but don’t want to look washed out. I use Cover Girl CG Smoothers with SPF 15. It’s light, looks natural and doesn’t even feel like you have makeup on.

The next best way to make your skin look even and smooth is with powder. But it has to be the right color and amount. Too light of a shade or too heavy of an application will look cakey and wash you out. I use Lancome powders because they look natural and aren’t too heavy.

Now, the one thing I don’t use is regular bronzer. It’s so easy to put on too much. I’ve made that mistake before and ended up looking like a carrot. So when I go out at night, or I just want to glow a little bit, I use a bronzer with shimmer in it. Try Lancome Star Bronzer (available here for $33, including a cool brush applicator) and MAC bronzing powder (available here for $22).

Finish off with mascara and a light lip gloss, and there you glow!

Some people say your teen years are the worst years of your life. But with the right advice and tips, these years can be easier. I’m Natalie, and I’m 14 so I get it. Because I’m still a teenager, I understand that it’s hard to know which advice to follow. So I’m here to help. For beauty tips and more. And my biggest tip is that beauty isn’t just on the outside. Always remember  that.
xoxo, Natalie
